International humanitarian organization Medair was founded in 1988. Since 1996, Medair has been conducting operations in Afghanistan, focusing mostly on initiatives related to health, water and sanitation, and livelihoods, with a notable emphasis on rehabilitation efforts in isolated regions. The three current programs are disaster risk reduction, food security, and water and sanitation.

Medair’s integrated emergency response attempts to address the high rates of illness, malnutrition, and food insecurity in the Tirinkot area.  In order to improve results for disadvantaged families, the project aims to expand and enhance WASH services, including infrastructure related to water supply and hygiene practices.

An Integrated Emergency Response: Medair seeks to address the severe food insecurity, malnourishment, and morbidity in Uruzgan, an area severely impacted by war and drought. The project aims to improve and extend the use of life-saving preventive and curative nutrition and health services by mothers, PLWs, and children U5. It also aims to decrease vulnerability to water-related and other preventable diseases, increase access to clean water, and augment food security for the most vulnerable families through the distribution of food vouchers, building on Medair’s decades of experience in the Central Highlands and Kandahar.

Job Description:

  • at coordination with the Nili support team, to establish and manage all support operations at the assigned Medair field office.
  • Oversee the base and project warehouses, distribute stock goods as needed, and set up field site transportation as needed.
  • Encourage open lines of communication and positive working relationships with local suppliers and other pertinent parties to support the activities.
  • Act as the project district’s security focal point and report any incidents or instances when security SOPs are not being adhered to.
  • prompt reporting of any suspicions of fraud involving employees or outside connections.
  • adherence to the principles of Medair and active participation in the team’s well-being.
  • compliance with tax and NGO laws in Afghanistan.
  • respect for the secrecy of all NRS regulations and Security Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Oversee the field base’s warehouses for project and base stock.
  • Issue stock in response to requests for stock, and conduct a physical inventory every month
  • Create stock reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Ensure that the field project team and the logistics team collaborate to maintain current supply levels.
  • Purchase goods from the nearby market as required.
  • For all project purchases as well as base maintenance, adhere to the procurement and logistics processes.
  • Make sure that the fleet’s requirements—such as the daily vehicle inspections and logbook—are being followed.
  • All field office equipment is managed by equipment.
  • upkeep of the office complex in agreement with the landlord
  • Collaborate with the security personnel to guarantee the office is always safe.
  • Estimate the field office’s financial requirements and boost PDFs appropriately.
  • serve as the main point of contact for issues pertaining to finance in the field.
  • serve as the main contact for HR-related issues at the field site.
  • The field location’s security focal point. Inform the project coordinator of any security concerns, and take necessary steps to ensure the team’s safety. 
  • Engage in productive teamwork during meetings.
