In response to the worst humanitarian emergencies worldwide, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) assists individuals in surviving and rebuilding their lives. Established in 1933 at Albert Einstein’s request, the IRC provides refugees compelled to escape conflict or natural disasters with life-saving medical care and transformative support. We help millions of displaced people who are fighting for survival by restoring safety, dignity, and hope via our work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities. From damage to home, the IRC sets the standard.
In 1988, the IRC launched its national program in Afghanistan. Our programs include a wide variety of topics, including child safety, education, economic wellness, health, and power. They also include early recovery and development initiatives. With more than a thousand employees, the IRC operates in ten provinces throughout Afghanistan, including some of the most unstable ones in terms of security.
- All parties participating in carrying out the IRC’s purpose have a shared obligation to adhere to the IRC WAY, or our standards for professional behavior. The IRC Way and the safeguarding policies must always be followed.Â
- Regarding the IRC Code of Conduct, the IRC has a zero-tolerance policy for safeguarding violations by its employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers, interns, suppliers, vendors, subgrantees/partners, implementing partners, and other associates.
