Job Description:

ARM Consulting is looking for Senior Civil Engineers with expertise to work with us in executing a multi-year third-party monitoring (TPM) contract across the 34 provinces of Afghanistan for a top UN agency. Senior Civil Engineers will be in charge of supervising infrastructure projects’ development and renovation, making sure they meet strict requirements for quality, safety, and adherence to regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • a civil engineering undergraduate degree, with a preference for a civil engineering master’s
  • a minimum of five years’ experience working in Afghanistan’s development sector, with an emphasis on construction supervision;

What are the Responsibilities for this job?

  • Oversee construction projects in all their facets, from planning to execution, making sure that safety regulations and technical requirements are followed.
  • Review progress, identify bottlenecks, and verify compliance with project timeframes and milestones by conducting on-site assessments.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and suggest remedial measures to reduce hazards related to construction quality and safety.
  • Provide thorough reports outlining the state of compliance, the progress made, and any problems found, along with suggestions for improvement.
  • creating monitoring strategies with the customer in close coordination and updating them often;
  • In order to get the project documentation—such as the project proposal, logical framework, narrative progress reports, financial reports, etc.—for the literature study, carefully coordinate with the customer;
  • Review the existing literature on the project’s documentation and draft a concise report outlining the project’s progress, major achievements, difficulties faced, important stakeholders, etc.
  • took part in the briefing with the appropriate UN agency to learn about their expectations for the monitoring missions and to get a better grasp of the project’s background;
  • putting together reports on the launch of monitoring missions;
  • creating timetables for fieldwork;
  • conducting in-depth interviews with beneficiaries, local leaders, and other relevant stakeholders, as well as members of the project implementation team at the federal and provincial levels;
  • completing the report and holding validation workshops with members of the project implementation team and UN agencies to confirm the draft main findings;
